About Us

Founded in 2013, the Griff Investment Fund is the UK’s first student run equity portfolio managing part of the University of York’s endowment. The fund’s aim is to promote a general understanding of financial markets by gaining an appreciation of the opportunities and problems involved in managing an investment portfolio.

Our initial assets under management was kindly donated by Paul Griffiths, CIO of Fixed Interest & Credit at First State Investments and York alum. All investment decisions are made by 40 analysts – undergraduate students at the University of York.

“Paul’s gift is a terrific example of creative as well as generous philanthropy. His confidence in the talents of York students combined with his own career experience has led to the creation of a fantastic new project that will benefit students for many years to come.” - Mary Haworth, Director of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of York
